Hexicon Korea is the Joint Venture between Korean Coens Co.,Ltd. and Swedish Hexicon AB, formed in 2018 to develop floating offshore wind projects in South Korea holding exclusive rights to Hexicon’s IP for the Korean market. Through transferring the core technology of floating offshore wind power and cooperation between domestic and overseas companies which have project experiences, Hexicon Korea is targeting to successful achievement of offshore wind power business in Korea.

Successful Case

‘MunmuBaram’ is a joint venture between Shell and Hexicon Korea to develop, construct, and operate a 1.3GW floating wind farm, located offshore South-East Korea, between 65 and 80 km from the city of Ulsan, South Korea. Stakes in the ‘MunmuBaram’ JV are held by Shell (80%) and Hexicon AB (20%). ‘MunmuBaram’ project is a significant development towards South Korea’s ‘Renewable Energy 3020 Plan’, which aims to increase domestic renewable energy generation to 20% of the energy mix by the year 2030 and will assist in meeting its ambition to become carbon neutral by 2050.
